Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

1. Who We Are

BillZap is an iOS invoicing application for contractors and freelancers, developed by an independent developer. For privacy questions, contact us at [email protected].

2. Core Privacy Principle

BillZap is designed to be privacy-first. Your invoice records are created and stored on your device. We do not run a BillZap backend to collect or monetize your invoice data.

3. Data We Collect

We do not collect personal data through app analytics, tracking SDKs, advertising SDKs, or user accounts. We do not track users across apps or websites.

4. Data Processed Locally on Your Device

BillZap processes the following information locally on your iPhone:

  • Invoice data (client names, amounts, line items, dates, payment status)
  • Business profile data you enter (name, address, logo, contact details)
  • Job photos you attach to invoices
  • App settings and preferences

This information remains on your device unless you choose to export or share an invoice.

5. App Permissions

Camera and Photo Library permissions are requested only so you can attach job photos to invoices. BillZap does not upload these photos to our servers.

6. iCloud Sync (Optional)

If iCloud is enabled on your Apple account and device, Apple may sync your BillZap data between your own devices. This synchronization is provided by Apple. BillZap does not receive access to your iCloud account content.

7. In-App Purchase and Apple as Independent Controller

Purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit and your App Store account. We do not receive or store your payment card data. Apple may process personal data under its own privacy policy and legal obligations as an independent data controller.

9. International Transfers

BillZap does not operate a central user-data backend for invoice records. If you email us, your email provider may involve international transfers under the provider's own safeguards.

10. Retention

In-app invoice data is retained on your device until you delete it. Support emails are retained only as needed to respond, keep records of legal/compliance matters, and protect against abuse.

11. Your Privacy Rights (EEA/UK/Switzerland)

Where applicable, you may have the following rights regarding personal data we hold via support communications:

  • Access — obtain a copy of data we hold about you
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data
  • Restriction — limit how we process your data
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Data portability — receive your data in a structured format

You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. We aim to respond within 30 days.

12. U.S. State Privacy Notices (Including California)

  • We do not sell personal information.
  • We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • We do not profile users for decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.

State privacy rights requests can be sent to [email protected].

13. Children's Privacy

BillZap is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

14. Security

We use reasonable organizational and technical safeguards for any support communications we receive. Device-level security for invoice data depends on your Apple device and account security settings.

15. App Store Privacy Disclosures

We aim to keep this policy and App Store privacy labels aligned. If this policy is materially updated, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, reference the change in release notes.
